<p>3-Amethyst, &nbsp;a type of quartz, &nbsp;has been associated with supernatural powers.</p>
<p>4- The word Amethystos means “not drunk” in ancient Greek. Because of its wine like color early Greek legends associated it with Bacchus the God of Wine.</p>

<p>5-Today the four major global sources for Amethyst are Brazil, Uruguay, Bolivia and Zambia.</p>
<p>6-Quartz, the mineral family for Amethyst may be the oldest gemstone known to man dating back to 20,000 BC.</p>
<p>7- St. Valentine the patron saint of romantic love, wore an amethyst ring carved with the image of Cupid.</p>
<p>8-Amethyst was once as valuable as Rubies and Sapphires until the 1800’s when a large deposit was discovered in Brazil.</p>
<p>9-Amethyst is the gemstone most associated with the color “purple”. The stone ranges from a deep cool blue to a reddish purple often referred to as “raspberry”.</p>
<p>10-Even fine amethyst has a modest price tag. Large gems remain affordable as price per carat does not rise dramatically with larger size.</p>
